Breakin' and Poppin'

Do you remember this commercial? I do. It was always played on Nickelodeon during You Can't Do That On Television. Such a defiant name for a kids show. Those wacky Canadians.

When I was a lad, I brought an unfolded cardboard box to the 1st and 2nd grade playground of Rosslyn Heights, so me and my buddies could break dance at recess. We looked just like that. 1985 was such a glorious year. We hid the cardboard in the bushes for a few weeks, before someone threw it away. If only I had convinced my mom to make this investment, then I would have had my very own fold up breakin' board.

Just out of curiosity, I called the 800 number and I got an elderly lady named Joyce. It sounded like a private number. She was too nice and feeble sounding to try any funny (mean) prank calling, (Hey is Alfonso there?) so I just said I had the wrong number and hung up. Please don't harass Joyce.

You probably looked like a dick trying to breakdance.

Not so much a dick. More like an flopping, dying fish with gigantic brown glasses and a goofy haircut
